Quiz question: which character has been portrayed more times on screen than any other? The answer, given we’re talking the Tarzan video slot here today is obviously…Tarzan.
It’s been a long wait until the legendary Tarzan became the star of his own casino slot.
Microgaming’s second mega video slot of 2016
Tarzan is made by slot providers Microgaming, who can count this as their second mega release of the year after Jurassic Park.
It’s worth pointing out at this stage that the Tarzan slot isn’t connected to the 2016 movie ‘The Legend of Tarzan’ in any way. In fact, it’s not based on any particular Tarzan movie, book, TV show or comic strip at all. Rather, it’s based on the Tarzan character and other characters that have appeared in his adventures over the years.
You’ve won big when you hear the Tarzan yell!
Tarzan’s parents died when he was very young and he was raised by the Mangani great apes in the jungle as a feral child, thus displaying some human characteristics and some of a wild animal.
Unless you’ve been living under a stone (hey, some people do and that’s their choice) you’ll know that the great love of Tarzan’s life was Jane. She was an American tourist who was passing through the jungle that Tarzan lived in, along with her father Archimedes and other explorers.
Both the pretty Jane and Archimedes are symbols on the slot, alongside Tarzan of course. Other symbols include the leopard, the chimpanzee, several types of fruit, the Wild symbol (the game’s logo) and the Scatter symbol (which has ‘bonus’ written on it and the picture of a wheel).
The graphics, in ‘cartoon mode’ are extremely clear and display the beautiful wild jungle that Tarzan has made his home. There’s an upbeat tune that plays while you’re spinning and Tarzan celebrates some of his wins with his iconic yell.
A cool aspect of this slot is that Tarzan is a pretty hyper-active sort of guy. So when he moves from the base game to the bonus rounds, he jumps around or climbs a tree vine (or ‘liana’ to give it it’s proper name) to get there. He also does a backward flip and a fist pump when securing a big win.
A celebration that wouldn’t look out of place on a Premier League football ground.
We’ve mentioned already that the Tarzan logo is the Wild.Which is appropriate given Tarzan himself is kind of…Wild.
It appears stacked during the main game, during the free spins and replaces all the other symbols to form a winning combination except for the Scatter. What else is there?
3 or more Scatters gives you the right to spin the Bonus wheel to see what you get next. This is similar to how it’s done in Bridesmaids and a game we recently reviewed for our Under the Radar section called Charms and Witches. Spinning the wheel will give you one of the following: multiplier wins, Jackpot prizes, the Free Spins Feature and the Pick-a-Potamus bonus game.
Seems like our friends at Microgaming aren’t just good with graphics, they’re good with words too. Because this has to be one of the coolest-sounding feature rounds ever.
It’s also a good way to pick up a quick big win. Pick two of the 12 hippopotamuses and a cash prize will be revealed for each pick.
Free Spins Feature
12 free spins on offer with ‘Growing Wilds’ and ‘Rolling Reels’. The latter means that after every win, the symbols that made up that win will disappear and be replaced by new symbols. That means you could get lots of wins in quick succession. Think Jungle Jim El Dorado.
When the Growing Wilds stacks appear, it increases 1 wild symbol per free spin, up to 15 wilds. Sadly the free spins can’t be re-triggered but they’re good while they last.
With regard to multiplier wins, for 3 scatters you’ll win 3 to 6 times your stake, 4 scatters lands you a cash prize of 6 to 12 times your stake and 5 scatters pays you between 9 and 18x your win.
But, when it comes to the jackpot prize 3 scatters pays you 200x your line bet, 4 pays you 400x while 5 pays you a whopping 1,000x.
